Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7 and possible Ultra model expected

Samsung has officially set its next Galaxy Unpacked event for July 9 at 10AM ET, marking the company’s third major launch of the year. Following the Galaxy S25 series in January and the virtual unveiling of the Galaxy S25 Edge, this mid-year presentation is expected to spotlight foldables, wearables and artificial intelligence integrations.

All signs point to the unveiling of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, continuing the annual refresh of Samsung’s flagship foldable lineup. Recent leaks hint at larger displays (up to 6.5 inches cover and 8.2 inches inner for the Fold 7), a slimmer design and an expanded role for Gemini Live AI features. While last year’s AI functions were more novelty than necessity, Samsung is reportedly pushing harder this year to integrate meaningful AI tools into the foldable format.

Is a Galaxy Z Fold Ultra on the horizon?

A teaser from Samsung in June hinted at a possible third entrant in the foldables family: the Galaxy Z Fold Ultra. Although specs are scarce, Samsung promises “industry-leading hardware, cutting-edge performance and seamless AI integration.” While there’s no indication that this is the rumored tri-fold design, fans are still hoping for a surprise announcement in that direction.

Galaxy Watch 8: Evolution or revolution?

Also anticipated is the launch of the Galaxy Watch 8. Previous iterations have seen minimal innovation, and expectations remain muted. However, Samsung could surprise users with meaningful improvements—longer battery life and new health-tracking features would be welcome changes. The smartwatch line has seen three cycles of iterative upgrades, and many are hoping this year’s model breaks that trend.

Galaxy S25 FE could appear early

Speculation continues around the possible announcement of the Galaxy S25 FE, a follow-up to the S24 FE that struggled to position itself as a true budget-friendly option. Early leaks suggest minimal camera upgrades but improved performance and battery life thanks to the potential use of the Exynos 2400 chip. If it does get announced at Unpacked, pre-orders would likely go live shortly after, ahead of a fall release.

Engadget will be liveblogging the event, and more details are expected to emerge in the days leading up to July 9.
